How they read

Dip, wait, match the colour.

Both strips use a redox indicator and buffer system that develops colour in proportion to the chlorine dioxide present. Low Range reads pink through magenta from 0 to 10 ppm. Wide Range reads green through teal from 0 to 500 ppm. No reagents, no instrument, and a result you can read against the chart on the bottle.

Technical detail

Interferences and handling.

Low Range performance notes and interferences

The reaction of chlorine dioxide with the redox indicator yields a pink colour proportional to the amount of chlorine dioxide present. These strips inhibit 1.5 ppm chlorine or greater.

Bromine, iodine and permanganate will deliver a positive interference. Free chlorine above 2 ppm will also deliver a positive interference. High levels of chloramine and monochloramine will slowly interfere with the accuracy of chlorine dioxide measurement.

Hydrogen peroxide, even at 3%, does not interfere. Chlorite does not yield a positive interference up to 750 ppm, nor does it consume or interfere with the chlorine inhibitor.

No other significant interference is noted when testing with 5 ppm iron, copper or manganese, 20 ppm quat, 40 ppm polyquat, chelant to remove 5 ppm metals, or 1 ppm copper algaecide, at pH 6 to 8.4 and temperatures 15°C/59°F to 40°C/104°F. 100 ppm cyanuric acid may affect accuracy, causing low colorimetric readings.

Wide Range performance notes and interferences

The reaction of chlorine dioxide with the redox indicator yields a green colour proportional to the amount of chlorine dioxide present.

Chlorine, bromine, iodine, permanganate and monopersulfate will deliver a positive interference with these test strips. No inhibitor is included in this formula, so chlorine, free or combined, at any level will likely interfere.

Hydrogen peroxide, even at 3%, does not interfere.

No significant interference is noted when testing with 5 ppm iron, copper or manganese, 20 ppm quat, 40 ppm polyquat, chelant to remove 5 ppm metals, or 1 ppm copper algaecide, at pH 6 to 8.4, at temperatures 15°C/59°F to 40°C/104°F, nor with 100 ppm cyanuric acid.

Storage and handling

Keep wet fingers out of the bottle. Moisture carried in on a hand will spoil the strips still inside.

Cap the bottle tightly straight after removing a strip.

Store in a cool, dry place. Shelf life is 2 years.

Made in the USA.
