Selectrocide® Ultra-Pure Chlorine Dioxide

Livestock Drinking Water Treatment

Remove biofilm from waterlines, stop the slime and algae reseeding your water, and protect intake and performance across poultry, dairy, cattle, and swine.

Selectrocide generates ultra-pure chlorine dioxide on-site from a sealed pouch. No generator, bulk chemical mixing, or complicated equipment.

The Cost of Dirty Water Lines

Water is the largest single input your animals take in every day, a dairy cow alone drinks 30 to 50 gallons of it. Green water, slime, and biofilm buildup are almost invisible, and by the time you can see it in the trough or line, it's already been cutting into performance for weeks.

💧

Animals Drink Less

Uses

Animals drink less when water tastes or smells off, and lower water intake reduces feed conversion, gain, and production.

🦠

Biofilm Shelters Bacteria

Uses

Biofilm shelters bacteria that drive gut challenge, loose manure, and wet litter or bedding.

🚰

Slime Restricts Flow

Uses

Slime and mineral buildup restrict flow at nipples and drinkers, so animals work harder for less water.

🔁

A Route for Reinfection

Uses

Contaminated water is a quiet route for reinfection: scours pathogens in calves, mastitis organisms in dairy flush systems, and Salmonella and E. coli across every species.

The Problem With Chlorine

Chlorine dioxide is a different molecule. It's compatible with more materials, safer to handle, and controls biofilm where bleach and chlorine can't.

Chlorine Loses Strength as pH Climbs

At pH 8.0 it holds only 20 to 30 percent of its disinfecting strength.

Costs More to Treat

Farmers have to greatly increase the dose just to keep up, and it still can't break through biofilm.

Corrosive to Equipment

Bleach and acids wear down pumps, fittings, and lines over time, driving up maintenance costs.

A Different Molecule

Chlorine dioxide doesn't lose strength as water chemistry (pH) shifts.

Penetrates Biofilm

Chlorine dioxide cuts through slime and stays effective in the presence of organic matter.

Non-Corrosive, No Residue

Chlorine dioxide breaks down cleanly. Gentle on pumps, fittings, and lines.

Livestock Water Treatment Dosing Guide

Selectrocide treats the water, strips biofilm already built up in the lines, and keeps new buildup from taking hold.

💧Waterline Dosing & Treatment

  • Municipal water: typically under 1 ppm
  • Well water: typically 1–2 ppm depending on load
  • Test at the drinker, not only at the dosing point
  • Adjust the program to the actual water source and system

Exact dosing varies by water source, organic load, and system type. Water testing is recommended before establishing a final protocol.

Key Reference Points
< 1 ppm
Municipal Water
Continuous dosing rate for municipal water sources.
1–2 ppm
Well Water Systems
Higher organic load in well water may require up to 2 ppm for consistent results.
< 0.8 ppm
Residual Before Consumption
Residual ClO₂ should remain below 0.8 ppm before animals drink.
20–50 ppm
Initial Shock Treatment
Used for initial system cleaning before transitioning to maintenance dosing.
