How Selectrocide® Works
Ultra-Pure chlorine dioxide. Generated on-site. Selectrocide generates 99.9% pure ClO₂ using a patented sealed micro-reactor pouch — no premixing, no hazardous handling, no byproducts.
What Chlorine Dioxide Actually Is
Chlorine dioxide is a dissolved gas — not a chlorine compound. Despite the similar name, the two chemicals work completely differently.
Chlorine dioxide works by oxidation. It strips electrons from the cell walls of bacteria, viruses, fungi, and biofilm. That mode of action is why microbes cannot build resistance to it, and why it stays effective at concentrations far lower than bleach, quats, or peracetic acid.
It is pH-neutral, leaves no residue, and breaks down into chloride and oxygen.
Every Other Disinfectant Has a Tradeoff
Most operations have tried bleach, peracetic acid, quats, or iodophors. Each comes with compromises that limit performance, safety, or practicality.
Corrosive, forms chlorinated byproducts like trihalomethanes, and loses efficacy above pH 7.5.
Aggressive on materials, strong odor, requires careful handling and PPE throughout use.
Leave residue on surfaces and lose effectiveness against biofilm — a growing resistance concern.
Stain surfaces and equipment, require high concentrations for meaningful pathogen reduction.
Generates as little as 3.2 ppm of actual ClO₂ in a highly acidic, byproduct-heavy solution. Not Ultra-Pure.
Pure, portable, point-of-use ClO₂. No byproducts, no corrosion, no residue, no resistance. That is the gap Selectrocide fills.
5 Electrons.
Not 2.
Lower dose. Better result. No resistance. No tradeoffs.
Every other common oxidizing biocide works with 2 electron receivers. Chlorine dioxide has 5. That means more oxidative capacity per molecule — which is why Selectrocide achieves a 5-log pathogen reduction at just 5 ppm while peroxide requires 68,000 ppm to do the same job.
Selectrocide destroys pathogens through oxidation, physically breaking down cell walls at the molecular level. There is no mechanism for microbes to adapt to that. Unlike bleach and quats, where resistance is a documented and growing concern, Selectrocide does not give microbes anything to build tolerance against.

How the Micro-Reactor Works
Selectrocide uses a patented sealed membrane micro-reactor pouch. The reaction happens inside the pouch, not in your water. That distinction is everything.
Why Containment Is the Whole Point
In conventional stabilized systems, the reaction happens in open water — chlorites, chlorates, and acids end up in your finished solution. In Selectrocide, the reaction is sealed inside the micro-reactor. Byproducts never reach the water. That is not a marketing claim. It is a chemistry outcome.
From Generation to Use
Once generated, dilute to your target concentration based on your application. Each pouch ships dry and stores for up to two years before activation.
| Application | Concentration |
|---|---|
| Disinfectant (hard surfaces) | 100 ppm |
| Sanitizer (food contact surfaces) | 20 ppm |
| Direct food contact | 5 ppm |
| Potable water treatment | < 1 ppm |
Safe Across All Common Materials
Selectrocide has been evaluated across a broad range of common industrial materials. No structural degradation was observed across any category.

Frequently Asked Questions
Common questions about generating and using Selectrocide® in your operation.
No. Drop the pouch in water, seal the container, wait two hours, remove the pouch. A standard container, test strips, and a sprayer are all you need. Kits are available with everything included.
Yes. Selectrocide ships in a dry pouch, eliminating bulky plastic containers and reducing shipping costs and carbon footprint. Generation containers can be reused over and over, cutting plastic waste. After use, it breaks down into simple components like salt and oxygen, leaving no harmful residue.
Most ClO₂ products on the market are stabilized systems that generate very little actual chlorine dioxide in a highly acidic solution. Selectrocide generates 99.9999% pure ClO₂ at neutral pH with minimal byproducts. The purity difference is measurable and it affects performance, material compatibility, and residue.
Yes. Selectrocide holds FDA Food Contact Notifications for produce wash, poultry processing, and red meat processing. It is NSF/ANSI 60 and 61 certified for potable water and OMRI Listed for organic use.
Selectrocide has been evaluated across metals, plastics, elastomers, and tubing with no structural degradation observed. It is non-corrosive at use concentrations and leaves no residue or film.
At 5 ppm, Selectrocide achieves a 5-log reduction of Staphylococcus aureus in 60 seconds.
Up to two years before activation. Ships dry.
The 1G, 5G, and 12G pouches cover applications from small surface sanitation up to thousands of gallons of water treatment solution. Kits are available for easy onboarding.
