Why Selective Micro

Ultra-Pure Chlorine Dioxide. Direct From the Source.

Since 1999, we have manufactured chlorine dioxide products in Ohio. Working directly with SMT means direct access to the manufacturer, technical support from people who know the chemistry, flexible volume programs, and a team that can help solve problems.

Since 1999

Manufacturing Ultra-Pure chlorine dioxide for industries that cannot afford a failure.

Made in Ohio

Produced at our own plant, not sourced and relabeled.

Generated on site

Patented micro-reactor technology, activated with water where it is used.

Buying direct

No layer between you and the people who make it.

Most chlorine dioxide is bought from a reseller. Ours comes from the plant that made it.

The manufacturer

You are talking to the company that owns the process, the plant, and the patent.

Technical support

Chemists and application specialists answer the question, not a call script.

Flexible volume

Programs built around what you actually move, not a fixed distributor tier.

Problems, not orders

We start from what is going wrong in the operation and work back to the product.

The switch

It replaces what most operations are already fighting with.

Same jobs as the usual chemistry, without the trade-offs that make the usual chemistry annoying to run.

Chlorine and bleachReplaced
Chlorine weakens as pH climbs. Above 7.5 it converts to hypochlorite ions and you dose more to hold the same result. Chlorine dioxide is a neutral dissolved gas, unaffected by pH or water hardness.
Peracetic acidReplaced
PAA works, but crews live with the odor and the handling precautions, and diluted solution does not hold its strength. Selectrocide is generated on site from a dry sachet, with no acid to handle.
"Stabilized" chlorine dioxideNot the same thing
Stabilized products are an acid mixed into a chlorite solution. They generate very little actual chlorine dioxide and leave chlorites and chlorates behind in what you just treated. The numbers are below.
On-site generatorsDifferent scale
Generators do produce clean chlorine dioxide, but they are a capital purchase, they need a trained operator, and they do not move. A Selectrocide micro-reactor ships dry and goes wherever the work is.

How it works

Water vapor goes in. Only chlorine dioxide comes out.

The reaction happens inside a sealed membrane micro-reactor. The membrane lets water vapor in and chlorine dioxide out. The byproducts that make other chlorine dioxide products dirty never leave the pouch.

Water vapor

Crosses the membrane into the reactor. This is the only thing you add.

Chlorine dioxide

Leaves the reactor into your water at the concentration you dialed in.

Chlorites, chlorates, and other harmful byproducts

Too large to cross back out. They stay sealed inside and go in the trash with the pouch.

Why the membrane matters. Because only a controlled amount of water vapor gets in, the reactants stay concentrated and the reaction runs to completion. That is what produces greater than 99 percent chlorine dioxide instead of a soup of related chemicals.

What that means on the floor. Add water and you have Ultra-Pure chlorine dioxide at a neutral pH. No generator, no trained operator, no acid to handle, no residue to rinse.

Safe and effective

Hard on microbes, easy on everything else.

No residue

It works by oxidation and breaks down. Nothing is left on the surface, in the line, or on the product to rinse off.

Non-corrosive

Compatibility validated to ASTM D543-95 at a GLP laboratory, 168 hours at 100 ppm, across stainless, plastics, elastomers and tubing.

Works at any pH

A neutral dissolved gas, so performance does not fall off in hard or high-pH water the way chlorine does.

No resistance

Oxidation is a physical mode of action. Microbes cannot adapt to it the way they adapt to some antimicrobials.

Low use rates

Effective at very low concentrations, which keeps both the exposure and the chemical spend down.

Ships dry

You are shipping a sachet, not a drum of water. Up to two years of shelf life before activation.

Regulatory

The paperwork is already done.

The registrations your customers ask for already exist on one product family, and we supply the documentation.

EPA Reg. No. 74986-5Disinfectant, sanitizer, deodorizer Hard non-porous surfaces, food contact surfaces, and potable water treatment.
FDAFood Contact Notifications Produce wash and fumigation, poultry, red meat, and seafood processing.
NSF/ANSI 60Drinking water treatment chemicals The standard water systems require before a chemical goes into a potable line.
OMRI ListedApproved for organic operations Customers running certified organic operations can use it and stay compliant.

Working with us

You are not just buying a case of sachets.

Most of our accounts started with a conversation about a specific problem. We stay in that conversation.

Application review Tell us the operation, the water, and what is going wrong. We tell you whether chlorine dioxide is the right answer, including when it is not.
Dosing and equipment Concentration, contact time, injection and dilution setups, and which product size fits the volume.
We will visit you on site Field evaluations and trials with you or your customer, plus the test strips to verify concentration on the spot.
Regulatory documentation Labels, technical bulletins, safety data sheets and registration documents, kept current by us.
Sales support Sell sheets and application guides for the markets you sell into, written for your customers rather than ours.

Next step

Tell us what you need and we will quote it.

What you sell, who you sell it to, and what volume looks like. We come back with pricing and the documentation. It is not a long application.
